O.C.E. Technology Introduces New Satellite Subsystems to Growing European Commercial Space Market

O.C.E. Technology (www.ocetechnology.com) today announced that it is introducing its new range of satellite subsystems to the growing European commercial space market.

The company made the announcement at the 2017 Paris Space Week exhibition, which commenced today and which is Europe’s premier B2B space event dedicated to launch vehicles, satellites and space related technologies.

OCE Satellite Subsystems

The O.C.E. Technology subsystems are derived from those in use in the Chinese space programme and have been operational on Chinese satellites over the past 20 years. The company is currently working with European customers to customise the products for the fast growing commercial satellite market.

O.C.E. Technology, headquartered at NovaUCD, the Centre for New Ventures and Entrepreneurs at University College Dublin, develops software for technical applications and supplies radiation-hardened chip-level components targeted primarily at the space and high-reliability sectors.

The company’s new subsystems can be used to bring a satellite into a desired orientation in space and to a desired spin rate.

To do this the star tracker subsystem matches the stars in its field of view with those in an internal map, allowing orientation and spin rate be determined. An on-board sun sensor provides further information, as do magnetometers that measure the strength and direction of the Earth’s magnetic field.

Reaction wheels are then used by the on board computer to provide the torques required to orient the satellite and control its spin, with a magnetorquer subsystem applying further torques by interacting with Earth’s magnetic field.

To address the power requirements of the satellite O.C.E. Technology provides a range of space qualified batteries, recharged by solar arrays, which can be customised according to satellite mission requirements.

Barry Kavanagh, CEO, O.C.E. Technology, said, “Our new satellite subsystems are providing cost-effective and proven building blocks to low orbit satellite builders with a make-or-buy decision. It’s great that the satellite subsystems already have many flying years on the Chinese space programme thus making it easier for us to sell into the European space companies”. He added, “The new subsystems are complementary to our other products and will provide a base for the company to increase its revenues and expand at a faster rate.”

O.C.E. Technology also offers a range of radiation hardened system-on-chip and radiation tolerant system-in-package devices, in addition to its flagship debug software tool, DMON.

During the 2017 Paris Space Week visit O.C.E. Technology, an Enterprise Ireland client company, and its European Distributor, Dimac RED, at Booth D16 to learn more about the company’s latest range of satellite subsystem products.

OCE Technology debuts software tools for European Space Agency’s next generation navigation technology

Dublin, Ireland – Dublin based O.C.E. Technology recently showcased it software toolset for the European Space Agency’s next generation navigation processor, the AGGA-4. This chip, installed on satellites and spacecraft, can use signals from the US, Russian, European, or Chinese global positioning systems not only to find precise locaSatellitetion but also for weather prediction by measuring GPS signal distortion by the upper atmosphere and also to measure maritime conditions using reflectometry from the ocean surface.

O.C.E. Technology develops software for technical applications and supplies radiation-hardened chip-level components targeted primarily at the space and high-reliability sectors. In 2017 OCE is launching a range of satellite subsystems already in use on the Chinese space programme. Watch this space!

DMON2 Debug Tool
DMON2 is a software tool used by embedded system developers to improve their productivity. It enables them to debug applications in a faster and more efficient manner. Test & Debug account for 25% of developers’ time and developers consider debug tools to be their most important tools. DMON2 will provide unique supports for efficient development and debugging of system-on-chip solutions where a single chip contains multiple blocks each performing a different function. With upwards of 55% of embedded projects running late the demand for DMON2 is obvious.

DMON2 works with a range of differing processor technologies including SPARC and ARM, the tool has an advanced and easy to use graphical interface and will facilitate rapid debug of embedded system applications.

System-on-Chip, System-in-Package, Memory devices
In addition to the Software tools developed by O.C.E. Technology, the company can supply a range of advanced radiation-hardened systems-on-chip (SOC), radiation-tolerant systems-in-package (SIP) devices, commercial off the shelf (COTS) parts, and customised high-reliability components. These parts are tested and screened for differing environments including flight space-qualified.

OCE Technology win European Space Agency contract to develop next generation Debug tools

Dublin, Ireland – Bray based O.C.E. Technology have been awarded a contract to further develop their debug monitor tool DMON for space applications and beyond. The contract is initially worth €300K and will see the company that only started in 2013 expand its workforce with the recruitment of 4 new software development positions.

O.C.E. Technology develops software for technical applications and supplies chip-level components targeted primarily at the aerospace and high-reliability sectors. The initial software tool was targeted for use with SPARC processors. These processors are used primarily in aerospace and high-reliability applications. The product, DMON, has recently been released in the Chinese aerospace market with a lot of interest.
